Hammamat is another popular tourist resort. It is a sophisticated town with a beautiful beach, an ancient medina and healing mineral baths. The town is known as the pride of the Tunisian Riviera and lies between the Mediterranean and the Sahara Desert. It was once a fishing village and the name comes from the Arabic word meaning ‘the baths’ Even with its modern architecture, Hammamet still keeps its exotic history.
